In 2014, DHL opened a fully automated distribution center at Schiphol airport in The Netherlands. They selected the Compact door for all loading docks.
in other loading docks, DHL used roller shutters which are badly insulated and noisy. A sectional door would be a better solution, as they are usually more quiet and have better insulation. However, in the narrow loading docks, traditional sectional door were no option. Their overhead rails would cross each other, which would not work. The Compact folding door proved to be the perfect solution. As space-saving as a roller shutter, but with the insulation capabilities of a sectional door.
Despite having a low ceiling, there is ample space for lighting and electrical installations, are no ceiling space is used for overhead rails. The smooth and quiet movement of the door is low in use of energy and low in maintenance. The door panels were coated in the same colour as the loading docks.
