In 2006, the British Ministry of Defense was looking for a supplier to deliver 40 industrial doors in their armed vehicle depots in Gloucester and Catterick Barracks. After extensive research, they decided to choose for the Compact folding door.
Finding the perfect door in all situations
The design of the depots included crane tracks, electrical installations, fire extinguishers and pipes, all around the door openings. A traditional overhead or sectional door would not fit here, as the rails on the ceiling would hinder these installations. Roller shutters did not have the insulation values and windows required for this project.
Compact folding door was designed to fit
After carefully checking all specifications, the Compact door was the only door that could meet up to all requirements. The folding system would offer space to all the installations, have the required insulation values and have windows for natural light.
On of the main advantages was that crane tracks could be installed closer to the walls, as the Compact doors do not have overhead rails.
60 Compact doors for Afghanistan
In 2010 the British Army built a maintenance workshop, for which 60 doors were needed. Because of the good experiences a couple of years earlier, the ministry of Defense chose for Compact doors again.
